What Actually Happens During a Creative Business Coaching Session?

If you've never worked with a business coach before, it's completely normal to wonder what a coaching session actually looks like.

Will someone tell you exactly what to do?

Will you leave with a long to-do list?

Will you be expected to fit your business into someone else's framework?

My approach is a little different.

Creative business coaching isn't about handing you a blueprint. It's about creating space to think, ask questions, and uncover solutions that feel aligned with your business, your goals, and the way you naturally work.

Every Session Starts With a Conversation

No two coaching sessions are exactly the same.

Some clients come in with a very specific challenge.

Others arrive saying, "I don't even know where to start."

Both are perfectly normal.

Our conversations might explore questions like:

  • Why does my business feel heavier than it should?

  • Why does my team keep coming back to me with the same questions?

  • How do I know if it's time to hire?

  • How should I structure my pricing?

  • Is this process actually working, or have I just gotten used to it?

  • What's keeping me from moving forward?

Sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn't finding an answer.

It's asking a question that hadn't been considered before.

We Start With the Root Cause

It's easy to jump straight into solutions:

A new software platform.

A new template.

A new workflow.

But before we change anything, I like to understand what's really happening. The challenge someone brings to a coaching session isn't always the challenge we end up solving.

A conversation about time management might uncover unclear client expectations.

A discussion about hiring might reveal that roles and responsibilities haven't been clearly defined.

A pricing question might actually be about confidence and positioning.

Taking the time to understand the root cause almost always leads to better solutions.

We Can Build While We Talk

One thing that's evolving within my coaching practice is creating more space for implementation during our sessions.

Sometimes the most valuable use of our time isn't simply talking about a process.

It's building it together.

That might mean drafting a client onboarding workflow, refining a service offering, organizing responsibilities within your team, or mapping out a project management process while we're on the call.

Some people process by talking.

Others process by making.

Coaching should create room for both.

Who Is Creative Business Coaching For?

Creative business coaching is designed for interior designers and creative founders who are ready to step back and work on their business, not just in it.

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. In fact, many of the best coaching conversations begin with uncertainty!

Maybe your business has grown and you're not sure what needs to evolve next… maybe you're carrying too much on your own… or maybe you're simply looking for someone who understands the unique challenges of running a creative business.

Wherever you are, I’ll meet you there.

A Final Thought

Some of the most meaningful progress I've seen in coaching hasn't come from dramatic changes.

It's come from small moments of clarity.

A decision that finally feels obvious.

A process that suddenly makes sense.

A business that starts to feel more supportive of the person running it.

That's the work I love!

Helping interior designers and creative founders build businesses that feel lighter, more intentional, and more aligned with who they are.
